So apparently episode 1 of season 7 premiered today at comic-con and now, not only is Shiro gay (!!!!!) but also terminally ill? I’ve seen everyone flipping out about his boyfriend, which is incredible, but the spoilers also talk about Shiro wearing an electro-stimulator for his muscles.
And apparently the Garrison didn’t want to send Shiro because he was ‘too sick’ but Sam Holt insisted, and THEN, when Shiro’s boyfriend is insisting that Shiro not go on the mission, Shiro insisted that he had to go because this would be the only chance he got. AND THEN HE TOLD KEITH IN A FLASHBACK THAT HE HAS A DISEASE THAT’S GETTING WORSE AND THAT HE’L ONLY BE ABLE TO STAY IN ‘PEAK’ CONDITION FOR A FEW MORE YEARS. Shiro being gay is huge but Shiro being terminally ill is also HUGE.
Its sounds like some kind of degenerative disease? It’s blowing my mind. I don’t expect it to change the story too much, but I love Shiro. He’s such great representation, I am so glad the writers went this route. So now that he has a cloned body, will it still be affected by the disease?
Will it get worse? The spoilers talked about Shiro’s new body ‘rejecting’ him, but I’m not sure it’s connected. Whats going to happen on earth?
Will Adam take him back? I am so hyped for this season omg • SPOILER • • • • •.
Haven't seen S7ep1, but given the information I've seen, this seems incredibly likely, since we know that quite a bit of the stress and pain a lion feels is generally passed to it's paladin. He was seriously under the pump in the season 2 finale - if the Garrison didn't want him in space with the Holts initially, it's likely whatever was affecting him probably affected his heart.
Begs the question of why the healing pods in the Castle didn't pick this up, but I don't remember Shiro having been in one prior to season 3. • • • • • • •. WoG says that Shiro's new clone body is free of disease and that Haggar 'saved his life'. So that says terminal to me, instead of chronic. Really I think this reveal explains SO MUCH why Shiro was pushing Keith to be the leader, and why he was willing to take Matt's place in the arena--he thought he would die anyway. It also explains Keith's heightened protectiveness: he wasnt just looking out for hia best friend, he was looking out for his best friend who had a degenerative physical condition.
